Become an Instructor
Texas needs more motorcycle safety instructors to train the ever-growing population of new riders in the state. If you’re interested in helping people learn to ride, get started by reviewing the requirements below. Meet the Qualifications
- Hold a motorcycle license for at least 2 years
- Be at least 18 years old
- Must be a high school graduate or have obtained
- General education development (GED) certificate
- certificate of high school equivalency
- other credentials equivalent to a public high school degree
- Be a safety conscious rider (All the Gear All the Time)
- Have a qualifying driving record

Instructor Training Course
- Contact a motorcycle safety instructor training provider
- Take and pass instructor training course
Apply for an Instructor License
- Create a Versa account on the TDLR website
- Apply for a new motorcycle instructor license
- Pay $50 application fee
- Application processing may take 4-6 weeks
